General Information

Thornhill Counseling, BOTB 23 certificate.jpg

Hello, my name is Craig. I have been in the field of mental health and addiction counseling since 2004. I have a background in adolescent residential treatment, as well as adult individual, group and family therapy in community mental health. I am the former Program Director/Clinical Supervisor of a community mental health center in NW Colorado (Mind Springs Health-Moffat county, 2012-2019). I used to also run an at-risk adolescent Day Treatment Alternative program in Routt County (2007-2012).

I currently provide individual adult and adolescent (age 16 or above) mental health and addiction counseling. My primary modalities include a strength-based and person-centered approach that utilizes MI (Motivational Interviewing) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Psychodynamic and Systems approaches to helping clients and their families obtain their goals. These approaches are further explained in the "About/What to Expect" tab above.

My job is ultimately to work myself out of a job and create the most efficient and effective path to collaboratively reach a client’s treatment goals. I strongly believe in supporting client choice and autonomy throughout the treatment process. I believe clients are the experts on themselves, while my expertise is on the process to mental health and addiction wellness.

I offer a free 15-30 minute consultation to clarify if my services might be helpful . I accept some insurances (Anthem, Cigna and United/UMR), as well as EAP’s with UC Health and Ski Corp employees. There is more information about my billing and clinical practices under the "Insurance/Treatment Costs" tab above.

COVID INFORMATION: I follow all CDC guidelines related to COVID risk mitigation.

Please note, my caseload capacity and availability fluctuates.

Fun Facts about me:

Music is a large part of my life, I play in a local band (the Morningside String Band). I have been snowboarding for 30+ years. I also like to fly fish. Most importantly I enjoy raising my children in Steamboat.
